Life for the nomadic Afar people of Ethiopia is hard. Drought often threatens their very survival. Meeting basic health needs is difficult and many children die young. Your much-needed donation will help provide primary health care, literacy programmes, and women's empowerment through the Afar Pastoralist Development Association (APDA), which was established by Australian nurse Valerie Browning and her husband Ismael Ali Gardo. Please give generously to support the vitally important work of Valerie, Ismael and the APDA.

How will the funds be used?

Your donation will help the indigenous Afar Pastoralist Development Association (APDA) deliver literacy and agricultural programs relevant to the needs of the nomadic Afar people. With your support APDA will also continue working to end female genital mutilation and prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS in the Afar community. Please give generously to help the Afar people help themselves.
