Australia's Indigenous people are among the most disadvantaged in the world. On average, Aboriginal people die 17 years earlier than their non-Indigenous countrymen, experience much higher rates of poverty and chronic disease, are only half as likely as non-Indigenous students to complete year 12, and are greatly over-represented in the criminal justice system.

At the heart of Indigenous disadvantage are the continuing problems of social exclusion, racism and the denial of justice. For this reason, ANTaR Vic considers working for land justice and reconciliation a shared responsibility; we encourage all Australians to work as individuals and within and across communities for a just and reconciled Australia.

"ANTaR is a symbol of hands stretching across the cultural abyss and as such it represents hope. Thank you for choosing to be a part of that" - Richard Frankland, Gunditjmara man.

How will the funds be used?

ANTaR Victoria works for land justice and reconciliation by conducting large scale education and awareness raising campaigns. Racism and denial of respect are at the very heart of Indigenous disadvantage, and ANTaR Vic works to address these issues at their root cause by challenging stereotypes, widening understanding and promoting recognition and respect of Australia's Indigenous people. You can help build the people's movement for justice and reconciliation!
