To provide support to the new Dance Space Residency Program 2008, an initiative of Ausdance NSW.

The Dance Space Residency Program affords independent dance artists/companies/collectives access to dance spaces for the development of their dance practice, creative development or rehearsal of work. Residencies are open for application from professional dance artists and will provide studio time free of charge to further their chosen dance discipline.

Ausdance NSW recognises the difficulties faced by artists trying to sustain a career and develop their own practice when much of their activity is undertaken without funding. The program is a direct response to the ongoing challenge of access to affordable and appropriate spaces for the development of the development of artist's work.

Ausdance NSW is the peak professional body for dance in NSW, with a core responsibility to create, support and promote opportunities for dance in NSW and invest in its ongoing development.

How will the funds be used?

Donated funds will go directly to supporting the Dance Space Residency Program, by providing much needed financial assistance to ensure the long-term sustainability of the program. Funds will cover studio costs and ancillary expenses o provide successful artists with residencies in which to undertake their chosen activity.

Currently the Dance Space Residency Program 2008 has been recognised as a credible and vital program by the City of Sydney; with Ausdance NSW receiving funding for its inaugural year of the program through the City of Sydney Cultural Grants and Sponsorship Program.

Key Areas of Expenditure

Contributions will go towards growing the program to offer further artist residencies.
The long term vision of the program is to provide artists in residence an allocated project budget to remunerate participants in addition to subsidizing hire costs for the duration of the residence.
