The Bibbulmun Track is a world-class walk trail which extends almost 1000 kilometres from Kalamunda in the Perth Hills to Albany on the South Coast of Western Australia. The Track is free and has become a popular recreational resource for West Australians and attracts walkers from around Australia and overseas.

The appeal is to raise funds for the upgrade of the 48 campsites along the length of the Track which offer three-sided timber sleeping shelters, water tanks, picnic tables and long-drop toilets. Built between 10 and 12 years ago, the shelters and other facilities progressively require upgrading to ensure they can withstand the elements and continue to provide a safe haven for the thousands of people who walk the Track each year.

How will the funds be used?

The funds will be used to purchase the materials used to upgrade the campsites. This may include new guttering and pipes for rain water collection, new taps or other fixtures for tanks, polycarbonate roofing, new wooden bed boards, wood sealant, upgrade toilets from long-drop to septic tank. A rough estimate for each campsite is $15,000 not including labour.

Most of the work will be carried out by volunteers and community groups under the direction of the Department of Environment and Conservation.
