Big Brothers Big Sisters provides young people in need of additional support and friendship with a caring volunteer mentor and positive role model. Our mentoring programs are based on the simplicity and power of friendship.
For all almost 30 years, Big Brothers Big Sisters has been providing long-term, one-to-one mentoring to disadvantaged young people living in Melbourne and in regional Victoria. More than 250 young people are currently matched to volunteer mentors in Melbourne and regional Victoria.
Big Brothers Big Sisters relies heavily on the financial support of individuals and groups in the community to ensure services are maintained and can be accessed by young people most in need of mentoring. Almost 70% of annual funding comes from donations, fundraising and philanthropic trusts.
The Vision for Big Brothers Big Sisters is that every young person that needs a mentor, has a mentor.
Financial support will ensure that the organisation can continue to support existing mentoring matches while expanding its mentoring services to young people waiting to be matched. More than 200 people are currently waiting to be matched a volunteer mentor.
Increased financial support will ensure we match more young people.
