Puppy Sponsorship: Tara

This appeal is to raise funds to support the welfare and training of our learner assistance puppy Tara. Tara is a White Swiss Shepherd and is currently being cared for by one of Canine Helpers puppy raisers until she is old enough to start formal training.

How will the funds be used?

Funds raised will cover the cost of the puppy's food, grooming, veterinary care and her special training (which will take between 60 and 120 hours). Sponsorship of Tara can also reduce the cost to her future handler by covering the handler training fee that is currently charged to new clients.

Key Areas of Expenditure:

• Equipment and training costs are between $7500 and $10,000
• Annual maintenance costs are from $2000
• Handler training fees are $375 per person
• Other costs include general running costs of the organisation
