Just 10 days after the Productivity Commission recommended a National Disability Insurance Scheme (NDIS), Julia Gillard endorsed the report and announced funding to kick start the process that she calls 'the long journey'.
Despite the government's commitment, we know that there is a real risk to the NDIS if the community does not continue to demand a better deal for caring families.
Carers Victoria believes that the proposed NDIS is our best chance to ensure sustainable funding and support for people with a disability and their families. We have worked hard to influence this process in the interests of caring families, and we are committed to the journey.
