CASE for Refugees
The funds are being collected to meet the ongoing costs of providing free specialist legal services to refugees and humanitarian visa holders in their applications for protection visas or to sponsor their family members to join them in Australia. CASE for Refugees relies entirely on grants, donations and sponsorship for its activities and has, since its inception in 2002, assisted over 1000 refugees.
How will the funds be used?
The funds will be used to meet ongoing working capital requirements for the running of the centre. This includes administrative costs which includes the training and co-ordination of volunteers. CASE works with over 50 active volunteers, and provides training and mentoring to law students who assist with protection and family reunion claims. Funds also assist with paying for qualified translating and interpreting services required by our clients.
