Thank you for supporting the work of the Conservation Council of Western Australia. It's great to know that we have one more supporter who is willing to speak up for the environment.

The Conservation Council...

The Conservation Council is the State's peak non-profit, non-government environment organisation. We are an umbrella group, representing over 95 individual non-government conservation, environment, and sustainability-focused groups, and have been an outspoken advocate for conservation and a sustainable WA for over 40 years.

Out key role is to educate, campaign and lobby government and other decision-makers on environmental issues. The Conservation Council has professional staff whose work is focused on policy development, community consultation, campaigning, submission writing, community liaison and environmental education. We maintain close relationships with the Government and government departments, community groups and political parties to achieve better outcomes for the environment.

Current areas the Conservation Council is focused on include; climate change, sustainable water management, biodiversity conservation, mining and resource development, marine conservation, sustainable agriculture and waste.

Our affiliate groups vary greatly in size (from grass-roots organisations with only a few volunteer members, to professional organisations with thousands of supporters) and in activity (from bush rehabilitation to promoting renewable energy).

While the Conservation Council has a rich and diverse support base among its existing 95 affiliate groups, we are constantly seeking to strengthen our voice and broaden our representation by gaining new supporters and affiliate groups.

For at least 20 years, the Conservation Council has been recognised by all sides of politics in the Western Australian Governments as a legitimate representative of tens of thousands of Western Australians such as yourself. Recently the State Government dramatically reduced our funding. As a consequence we have lost our Water Policy Officer, our Sustainable Agriculture Officer and our Minerals and Mining Officer. These losses represent a huge blow to the Conservation Council and seriously reduce our ability to develop and advocate strategies to protect the environment in WA.

If you believe that Western Australia's environment deserves protection, please take the time to donate to us online, by phone, fax or mail.

Your support will allow the Conservation Council to continue being Western Australia's outspoken voice for the environment. Please make a donation today to help us continue our important work defending our environmental laws, preventing uranium mining, stopping the introduction of genetically modified crops, protecting natural areas from destructive developments and reducing the impacts of climate change.

Today, in the face of many environmental uncertainties, our ability to remain a powerful voice representing the community and the environment is more important than ever and your support is critical.

Please don't delay - your tax-deductible gift made today will enable us to invest in genuine changes for the future.

Thank you again for your commitment and support to the Western Australian environment.
