Conservation Week is organised annually by the Conservation Council of WA to increase community awareness of conservation issues and encourage action for conservation throughout WA. It provides an opportunity for community conservation groups and individuals to actively show their support for a wide spectrum of conservation initiatives, which are communicated through a variety of events and activities during the week.
Since its initiation in 2005 Conservation Week has been growing in popularity within the Western Australian community with over 40 events registered in 2008 all across the state. Conservation Week events have included: conferences, tree planting days, field trips, art displays, photography exhibitions, wetland rehabilitation, open days, workshops, talks, bike rides, clean-up days, festivals plus much more.
These events allow everyone to rejoice in our wonderful environment, while learning about relevant issue. An important objective of this week is to raise funds to support the work of the Conservation Council and, though the council, support the work of its member groups. WE depend on the generosity of environmentally aware individuals to help us promote and protect WA's precious environment. With YOUR SUPPORT we can implement genuine change for the future.
