WA's marine life - an historic decision in the balance

The Federal Environment Minister Tony Burke is about to make the largest conservation decision in Australia's history - one that will have a major impact on Western Australia, and it could go either way.

After years in the research and preparation, Environment Minister Tony Burke will soon decide on a network of new marine sanctuaries for our South West and the level of protection that will provide to our marine life.

What we do now will determine the outcome of that decision.

We need to be in Canberra, meeting and talking with MPs, Ministers and advisers. They need to hear firsthand what Western Australian's are thinking and what scientists are saying. We also need to be out in the community, especially regional coastal towns, holding information stalls and public meetings to raise awareness and activate support. Only if Minister Burke understands that the community is on his side will he take the action we need to save our marine life.
