Giving Citizen Advocacy a Go

To support Citizen Advocacy programs across Australia to continue their work of seeking volunteer advocates for isolated people with disabilities. Such relationships protect and defend people with disabilities against poor treatment and question any decisions made against their interests. Such relationships are long-term and are transformative for a person who relies solely on paid support.

How will the funds be used?

Funds will only be given to Citizen Advocacy (CA) programs that demonstrate effectiveness in their work and accountability to the Trust for the funds it receives.

Key areas of expenditure

Innovative projects demonstrating merit because of the ability to make many strong relationships. Such projects could be to commence a CA program in a new district; for staff to receive specialised training; for a program to be evaluated to improve the quality of its work; for innovative ways of recruiting and training new volunteer advocates.
