The Dolphin Research Institute is a not for profit, community-based institute that typically receives less than 5% of its annual budget from Government. For the last 14 years the Institute has relied on community support to maintain and build on the unique and important dolphin research, marine education and conservation services that it provides to the community.
How will the funds be used?
All funds raised by the Institute are used solely to support the Institute's own strategic marine research, education and conservation programs. Apart from funding some scholarships for young graduates to work with the Institute, no funds donated to the Dolphin Research Institute are directed to outside entities.
Key Areas of Expenditure
Scientific research on dolphins, mainly around Victoria.
Marine education programs for schools and the community in general.
Operation and development of the Dolphin Research Institute's marine conservation centre at Hastings on Western Port Bay.
