2 year old Jack was diagnosed with SMA, or spinal muscular atrophy at the age of 1. This means all the major muscles that are involved in normal growth are weak and have low tone as a result of a degeneration of the nerve which triggers the muscle. Due to this degeneration Jack will never have the ability to be mobile and play like a normal child. This includes crawling, walking, rolling over or simply lying on his stomach and moving his head upwards. Worse still the condition also affects his breathing and ability to swallow correctly, meaning he will often be subject to chest infections and will eventually need aids to help him breathe and swallow food. Jack's family are in desperate need of specialized equipment, renovations so that their house is suitable for Jack's wheelchair, money towards the purchase of a wheelchair and a car suitable for wheelchair access. At the moment, Jacks' mum, Cassy, lifts Jack into the car, banging his head each time. Cassy has also developed back problems from this.
Dream Workers are working with Jack and his family so that Jack can have as comfortable life as possible. To achieve this, we need your support.
