Support for New Parents and Families

Down syndrome is the most common chromosome disorder and one of every 700-900 babies born will have Down syndrome. Down Syndrome Victoria is committed to a model of peer support and empowerment to build resilience in people with Down syndrome and their families.

Your donation will be a gift of support and empowerment and provide support for new parents of a child with Down syndrome. New baby gift packs, resource materials, new parent information packs, personal visits and peer support functions can make all the difference for new families and empower them to provide the best possible outcomes along their journey.

Some of the many ways your donation can make a difference:

• $28 - provides an information pack for new Members
• $51 - provides a new book or DVD for the Down Syndrome Victoria Library
• $75 - provides a new baby gift pack for a family where a child has been born with Down syndrome.
• $100 - hosts 5 families to attend Family Fun Day - a peer support event held annually on or near World Down Syndrome Day (21st March).
• $300 - provides a visit and support, including a new baby gift pack for families welcoming a new baby with Down syndrome.
