The Eye Research Australia Foundation raises funds for eye research to help prevent blindness, vision impairment and eye disease in Australia.
Our research to date has identified the social and economic impacts of blindness and the much larger problem of eye disease in the community. It is now known that given current conditions the number of Australians who will lose vision and need eye care will be more than double by the year 2020.
75% of poor vision is due to just 5 conditions - under corrected refractive error, cataract, diabetic eye disease, glaucoma and macular degeneration.
Key Areas of Expenditure
The Foundation has specialist units of medical researchers working to implement current cures and find means of preventing eye disease. Our researchers need funds to continue their critical research.
