CFA Brigades currently have over 58,000 members of which 99% are volunteers and they are usually:
"FIRST in the line of BUSHFIRES/FIRESTORMS and LAST in the line of FUNDING!' saving the government millions of taxpayers money but we have to be careful at what personal cost?
Like many other organisations your local CFA Volunteer Brigade appreciates the generosity of local and business organisation so they can maintain up-to-date equipment and technology.
Remote CFA Brigades can find it very challenging to raise the funds they need locally due to fewer residents yet they are usually within regional locations throughout Victoria where Bushfires start and if not controlled can enter small country towns and outer suburban residential areas.
Many outer Melbourne suburban residential areas on the dreadful day of 7th February, 2010 were extremely fortunate fire-fighters extinguished or slowed down many spot fires which could have had an even greater tragic outcome. Many residents living within these locations are still today unaware of what was achieved by many CFA brigades for the benefit of their community survival.
It is not up to 'Friends Of CFA Volunteers Inc' to replace the duty of care of government to support and maintain CFA volunteers needs.
We have been established to be a place where community voices at a grassroots level can raise and share with friends, others, community, family and associations of CFA volunteer needs within an open, non-judgemental association that has no political agendas attached. Therefore we can gather and supply grassroots anecdotal evidence of equipment and welfare needs for CFA volunteer brigades', their members and their extended family.
With donated funds we can assist CFA volunteer brigades fulfil their wish list needs strengthening our community emergency service CFA volunteer Brigades preparation to help maintain our community fire season preparation while also increasing respect and appreciation by supporting extended welfare needs for members and their extended families.
