About GiveNow Week – For MPs & Councils
Councils and MPs of Australia: this is your chance to help get giving on the radar!
GiveNow Week – 28 November to 4 December – is an Australia-wide event designed to focus attention on the many ways we can make a difference to the lives of others.
The holiday season has long been known as a time of giving – this year, you can help to create a giving bonanza in your community!
There are so many ways you can help out this Christmas – we've outlined just a few of these below.
Spread the word.
As a well connected member of your community you have a great opportunity to spread the word about GiveNow Week and encourage others to take part.
Highlight the ways your community can get involved by including an item on GiveNow Week in your newsletter, or by downloading and sending out our
media release template (word file).
Get your communities involved.
Tell local businesses and local residents about GiveNow Week and how they can take part – there are sections for both groups on the GiveNow Week website (
www.givenowweek.com.au).
You can download our letter template and send to your stakeholders.

Spend wisely.
Lead by example by buying your organisation's Christmas trees and Christmas gifts through community groups.
There's a listing of community groups with goods for sale at
www.givenowweek.com.au (check out the Good Gifts Guide, as well as the Christmas trees and Christmas puddings’ listings).
Make a donation.
Thanks to the internet, making a donation to a community group is just a mouse-click away.
GiveNow.com.au has around 2000 good causes listed (and you can easily narrow your search down to only groups in your local area).
This commission-free service means you can give to a group that matches your values from the comfort of your own home or office, at a time of your choosing. More than 82,000 people have already used this service, donating more than $21 million to community groups around Australia.
'Tis the season.
For many people, Christmas provides an opportunity to take a breather from work and other stressors and reconnect with their family, friends and community. Find ways to make life easier for your employees and volunteers this Christmas.
