Hotham Mission Asylum Seeker Appeal 2011

Hotham Mission Asylum Seeker Project

Give a One Off Donation Give a Regular Donation

Hotham ASP works with asylum seekers who are lawfully awaiting an outcome on their refugee or humanitarian protection claim, but who face homelessness and destitution without community support. Many of our clients have suffered physical or emotional trauma, isolation and mental illness. Some have endured periods of detention. In 2011, Hotham ASP is also housing and providing casework support for young people and families who are being released from detention.

How will the funds be used?

Your donation will help ASP provide these poorest children, women and men, with housing, professional support, monthly cash relief, help with utilities bills, and medical and emergency help. ASP also provides referrals, one-to-one volunteer support, and women's and men's groups. ASP advocates and lobbies on behalf of the people it serves.

Key Areas of Expenditure

$33 will provide a weekly Basic Living Allowance to person seeking asylum who has no other income.
$99 will provide a weekly Basic Living Assistance to a single parent and two children.
  • $200 will help a family pay a quarterly bill for electricity and gas.
