The Humanitarian Crisis Hub supports community action on war and conflict. Most of the groups we work with are made up of refugees and migrants in Australia who work to promote and improve the human rights of people in their countries of origin. They have an intimate understanding of the human rights issues and any have a passion for raising awareness and promoting for the rights o the people left behind. Their first hand experiences give their voices a powerful and compelling immediacy and they have a unique potential to inspire other Australians to take action on these human rights issues. However new and emerging communities do not always have the skills, resources and networks necessary to maximise the impact of their human rights work. The Humanitarian Crisis Hub supports their initiatives. However, as we are a young organisation - and because what we do is new and innovative (we believe we are the only organisation of this kind in the world) - we need funds to grow and provide a great service to community groups.
How will the funds be used?
All funds raised through the Humanitarian Crisis Hub Appeal will be used to fund our work with community groups: running workshops, providing mentoring, updating our website, maintaining our resource centre, and covering operational costs such as rent, bills, meeting room hire, administration costs and travel. Most of our staff are volunteers, so this appeal will also be used to support them by reimbursing their transport costs and providing training to them. This will allow the Humanitarian Crisis Hub to continuously provide the support to community groups that promote human rights in war and conflict.
