Despite the inherent tragedy of domestic violence, the story it tells is far from unremittingly bleak. Enfolded in its myriad aspects are stories of women of extraordinary courage - some who brave their fears and leave; others who continue to endure its daily terrors - and of a grassroots effort to establish resources for safety, healing and awareness. In Victoria alone there are only some 20 women's shelters housing some 1500 women and 3000 children each year.
Victoria's women's shelters are poorly resourced. They provide a safe haven but NOT a comfortable one.
At IMPACT we think we can and should make a difference to these women's lives!
How will these funds be used
IMPACT will use these funds to provide womens' shelters with better facilities for the women who turn to them for help.
Key Areas of Expenditure
Drawing attention to the reality and tragedy of domestic violence in our community through educative programs and liaising with like-minded organisations
Raising funds for Victoria's women's shelters
Determining specific needs/wants in each region in conjunction with the Women's Domestic Violence Crisis Service, so we can develop and implement relevant projects for IMPACT to action.
