International Women's Development Agency (IWDA) is an Australian not-for-profit organisation that creates positive change for women and their communities. For 25 years, our practical and rights-based projects directly address poverty and oppression in developing countries.

Violence against women aged between 15-44 years old accounts for more death and disability than cancer, malaria, traffic injuries and war put together.

Violence is no longer an individual woman's problem, a local or even a national problem; it is now a problem to be addressed by all women and men and by states,
individually and collectively(Report of the Special Rapporteur on violence against women, its causes and consequences, Yaking Erturk. ECOSOC, 2003).

Today, you can invest in change. Your gift will ensure IWDA continues to support life changing programs for women and their communities across Asia and the Pacific.

Be part of the movement. Donate now.

At IWDA, we believe that women are agents of change and development can only be effective and sustainable if women are active participants in all aspects of economic, social and political life.

How are you making a difference in women's lives?

  • $500 covers the cost of one month to run a safe house in Cambodia, including rent of a secure building and counselling services for women who have experienced violence.
  • $250 funds community group meetings on 'savings schemes' to take place in 30 villages in Cambodia.
  • $150 allows one young Australian woman to attend a two night camp exploring concepts of gender and development.
  • $80 supports a local trainer in PNG to deliver two days of vital hygiene and skills training to over 20 women, including raw materials and equipment.
  • $45 allows a woman living in a rural area in the Solomon Islands to attend three workshops on savings and microfinance. While attending these trainings, she will be able to apply for small business/livelihoods loans from a revolving community fund.
  • $35 contributes to delivering workshops for women in informal settlements in Fiji to explore alternative sustainable sources of livelihoods.
  • $25 provides a safe venue and materials for 20 Shan refugee women living on the Thai-Burma border who are facing violence to come together to share ideas and learn about their rights.
