The John Pierce Centre

Give a One Off Donation Give a Regular Donation
John Pierce Centre for Deaf Ministry is a not for profit organisation which funds its activities from donations, bequests and some support from the Catholic Church in Victoria. It receives no ongoing Government funding. Its programs and facilities are available to all Deaf people who wish to use them. Its activities are always in need of further funds.

We need your help to work effectively in extending to Deaf people, and particularly the users of Auslan, the knowledge and skills which empower them to be active participants in the wider culture. Our organisation is small so our activities are highly targeted to areas where we can make a difference.

How will the funds be used?

  • To support Deaf families through counselling, courses and social gatherings,
  • To maintain a community centre for all Deaf people,
  • To offer liturgies, visitation of the sick and sacramental preparation in Auslan,
  • To support Deaf people whose needs do not conform to Government funding guidelines or disability criteria.

Key Areas of Expenditure

Providing information and skill building programs for Deaf parents and those contemplating marriage,
Promoting and supporting the self help activities of Deaf adults in such ventures as Playgroups and After School Clubs,
Providing counselling and advocacy for Deaf people in stressful personal situations,
  • Strengthening communication links through maintenance of newsletter and development of a website.
