About this cause

We all know how important music is to our lives.

It provides comfort, joy, excitement, brings back memories and carries us through the best of times and sadder ones. There’s even a whole bunch of research around how beneficial music is to our everyday well-being, sense of community and self-expression.

For kids, the opportunity to be a part of a school band provides so many benefits – deep social connections, cognitive and academic benefits and discipline development. They build teamwork, focus and resilience that benefits the kids in so many ways, in school and outside of it.

And this is why the Bilgola Plateau Public School P&C Association is undertaking some much-needed fundraising efforts to support our school's band program to ensure we can continue the current program through the rest of 2026 and into 2027.

Our first fundraising event is a sausage sizzle at Bunnings Narrabeen on Saturday 29th August 2026, with more events and fundraising efforts to follow through the rest of this year.

Our focus is to engage as many kids as possible in the wonder of music and being part of something that they create together. And while we are seeing an increasing number of students keen to be involved across our training, concert and stage bands, costs related to the program continue to rise.

We have three current fundraising goals:

  • Assist in covering the conductor fees to ensure we can keep the program fees as low as possible.
  • Maintain and repair the programs band equipment to ensure new students can explore different instruments without their families needing to make the huge commitment of purchasing an instrument when starting out.
  • Purchase new music for our bands to play that is engaging, fun and sound fabulous to our young players and their all-ages audiences.

Your support is greatly appreciated as we strive to create a thriving band program that ensures the beauty of music is on offer at Bilgola Plateau Public School.

Let’s help the beat go on!
