WHAT WOULD THEIR FUTURE HOLD?
ALNF believes that literacy strengthens communities and offers a better quality of life and hope for a better future.
Without these skills individuals, families and whole communities are powerless in realising their full potential. As a society, illiteracy is linked to loss of culture, poor identity loss of confidence in self/community, collective shame, social dishonesty and loss of opportunity.
ALNF was founded in 1999 and is the first independent literacy and numeracy tax-deductiblenational charity (DGR) in Australia.
ALNF is dedicated to raising language, literacy and numeracy standards in Australia and raises funds to develop, implement and sustain innovative projects for individuals, families and communities.
ALNF's programs span the developmental spectrum from early years learning through to adolescent and adult learning needs. ALNF's programs address the needs of a diverse range of individuals and communities, with a focus on Indigenous and refugee communities.
ALNF provides vital learning and teaching strategies and knowledge that underpin proficient reading and writing skill development. ALNF also provides multi-lingual literacy instruction, in English and Indigenous First Language, as brain stimulation is maximised, English literacy learning is stimulated and emotional and cultural enrichment is nurtured through First Language literacy.
"Thank you that you gave us the books And thank you for teaching us to learn about English. When I saw the books, I was so proud and I felt rich. I am reading one book and it's so good. I don't remember what it's called but I am so happy." Zual, Year 7 student, Rural NSW.
With your help we can continue to offer a better quality of life and hope for a better future for more students like Zual.
