Our programmes work to initiate wheelchair services in partnership with local organisations - such as the Te Toa Matoa Association of People with a Disability and the Tungaru Rehabilitation Service in Kiribati; and the Community Based Rehabilitation Unit in the Solomon Islands.
Every $260 raised will help to provide one person with a wheelchair - giving that person mobility and the opportunity to leave their home and be an active and contributing member of their community. Your donation will also help disabled people themselves demonstrate what they are capable of, with the return of their mobility.
Worldmade wheelchairs are strong, robust and appropriate for the sandy, muddy and sometimes mountainous terrains found in many parts of the Pacific. Through the training we provide our local partners, each wheelchair provided will be properly fitted for each individual. Each wheelchair user will receive training in how to use and maintain their wheelchair, and ongoing peer support in their community.
We believe that mobility is an essential human right. With your help we can help to ensure that people in the Pacific islands recognise this right. $260 has the potential to significantly change someone's life.
