The Koala is one of Australia's most well-known and well-loved animals. Since the arrival of Europeans in Australia, approximately 80% of our eucalypt forests, and the Koala's habitat, have been destroyed. As a result, Koalas have suffered a dramatic decline in numbers and distribution making them a threatened species in New South Wales.
A survey of Koalas conducted in 1994-95 found that the Koala has disappeared from 50-75% of its historic range in New South Wales. Where Koalas could once move across the landscape for feeding, socialisation and genetic mixing between populations, they must now survive in fragmented and isolated habitats.
In many of the areas where koalas are most abundant, their habitats are subject to severe and continuous pressures - in particular, clearing for agriculture and urban expansion.
The impact of this long-term native vegetation clearing is the destruction of Koala populations and habitats. As a threatened species bordering on endangered, they need your help.
The Nature Conservation Trust of NSW was established to protect the unique heritage of New South Wales by buying, selling and protecting properties with high conservation value as well as supporting landowners to look after their land. We prepare properties to create environments where native plants and wildlife can thrive, removing predators that threaten their existence.
It is thanks to the generous contributions of our supporters that we are able to carry out this vital work.
As a supporter of the Nature Conservation Trust of NSW, your gift today will help us to:
With your help today, by making a special gift, we can complete the work to protect native vegetation that is home to threatened Koala populations. Will you be our partner in this project?
Your gift of $25 will plant two koala preferred feeding trees.
To do something long term that is really significant for the beautiful New South Wales environment, please rush your donation now. This is your chance to make a truly profound impact on the environment for the future survival of Koalas.
Yours sincerely,

P.S. In the ten years since the Nature Conservation Trust of NSW was established, we have protected habitat for threatened plants and animals in over 50 private reserves across the state. To be able to do more, we need your support today.
NEWSFLASH - The Federal Environment Minister, Tony Burke has said that Koalas in Queensland, New South Wales and the ACT are being classified as vulnerable and added to the threatened species list. We must act now!
