MICHAEL JACKSON left not only a lasting cultural legacy, but a philan ­thropic one as well. Jackson was one of the first celebrities to champion the fight against HIV/AIDS and also sup ­ported a variety of children’s, cancer and medical research organisations, donating more than $500 million.

RUSSELL CROWE is not known in the media for his angelic behaviour – but he handed over a £1000 cash donation to a local op shop in the UK where he is currently filming his next movie.
