
On January 12, 2010, Haiti, already one of the poorest nations in the world, was struck by a devastating earthquake.
Major buildings, including the capital’s main hospital , have collapsed and it is now estimated that the death toll may rise to as many as 200,000 people, making this one of the worst natural disasters in recorded history.
Aid agencies world-wide are scrambling to provide food, water, medical supplies and shelter to t he victims of this disaster.
