The quilt made by Barbara and Sue

Who Gives - The Quilters

Who Gives: The Quilters

Who: Barbara Green and Sue Robson

Where: Queenscliff, Victoria

What: Barbara and Sue made a quilt that they raffled off to support Cottage by The Sea, Queenscliff , Victoria

When: October 2009 – January 2010

Why:

Sue's son in law works for Cottage by the Sea, which provides short-term relief care in a seaside holiday environment. Sue and Barbara saw first-hand how important the service is for children and families in need.

They decided to make a quilt. They purchased the fabric and their friend Edna donated the batting. Barbara decided on the design, cut it out and pinned it together. Then Sue sewed the half square triangle together and handed it back to Barbara who completed the sewing. Barbara quilted it and Sue did the binding.

The two women then contacted two local shopping centres and got permission to s ell tickets to raffle the quilt. They also sold tick ets at The Cottage by the Sea F ete, which, they said, was very successful.

“We raised enough for two children to each spend a week at the Cottage, which was wonderful,” said Barbara.
