Spectrum MRC's mission is to offer services and programs designed to assist migrants and refugees to successfully settle in Australia. Established in 1980 to provide settlement services in Melbourne's northern metropolitan region, Spectrum MRC has expanded to the West to respond to clients' needs and close existing gaps in the provision of services to CALD communities. Services provided include immigration, employment and training, family and youth and aged and disability.
Spectrum MRC's Refugee Appeal will contribute to support services not currently funded by grants, such as the African Homework Club which has grown significantly after starting nine years ago. The program now focuses on all subject areas and includes Primary and Secondary school students from a number of different schools in Melbourne's north, with most students from Sudanese and Somali backgrounds.
