The arts are an integral part of queer culture. It is through the arts that we celebrate each other’s happiness, hold each other's pain, discover truths in ourselves, and find solidarity with others. We are inextricably linked to one another through the art that fills our lives with meaning and connection.

At Pride Foundation Australia, we have supported LGBTQIA+ Arts as a key focus area of our Large Grants program since 2021, commissioning two plays in partnership with Australia Plays Transform, as well as throughout the entirety of our Small Grants program since it began in 2016. 

But the arts, as we well know, are gravely undervalued and underfunded—even more so in queer circles. 

So this February, in a month surrounded by queers arts excellence with all of the incredible events happening across Australia, we’re aiming to raise $15,000 towards funding more LGBTQIA+ arts projects across Australia, and to continue creating spaces for our stories to be told.
