Prisoners Aid (ACT) has been operating as a community organisation in Canberra since 1963. Over the years we have assisted thousands of clients - including detainees, released detainees, families of detainees, and those involved in the court system (some of whom end up in prison). 

Our key principles are based on natural justice for detainees and on rehabilitation in order to reduce the risk of further offending. Our twin objectives are to: 

• ensure a ‘fair go’ for all those involved directly and indirectly in the prison system, including the families of detainees: and
• enhance prospects for the rehabilitation of detainees and their reintegration into society.

We remain the only community organisation in the ACT devoted solely to support for detainees, released detainees and their families.

Prisoners Aid (ACT) Christmas Hamper Appeal

Each year, we at Prisoners Aid (ACT) put together hampers for our clients and their children. 

These hampers contain non-perishable food, toys, toiletries and treats for clients with children. These hampers make a real difference to our clients lives and help bring them a little luxury during the Christmas season, which they might have been able t

o afford otherwise. 

Since 2013, we have allocated around 600 hampers to our clients. In 2022 we put together 108 hampers and this year, we want to break this record. 

We are asking for your support to raise $2000 before December 1st to help us spread some holiday joy to those in need during the Christmas season.
