Nillumbik Reconciliation Group is committed to supporting an Indigenous presence in Nillumbik Shire through community education, networking with other community groups, the placing of cultural markers acknowledging the Wurundjeri - the traditional owners - and working towards justice and rights for all Indigenous people.
How will the funds be used?
Following the success of our support for the Liz Cavanagh Quintet at the recent Eltham Jazz and Blues Festival, Nillumbik Reconciliation Group wishes to raise additional funds to support Indigenous musicians during the Festival next January and at other events during the year. Your donation will enrich the shire of Nillumbik and encourage the development of Indigenous talent.
Key Areas of Expenditure
Support for a major Indigenous group to perform at the Eltham Jazz & Blues Festival in January 2010: $1,500.
Support for Indigenous performers at flag raisings marking key events in Wurundjeri history, and during Reconciliation and NAIDOC weeks: 5x $350.
