QYS is a not-for-profit community based organisation that relies on government grants to manage programs for young disadvantaged people. Continuation and security of being able to manage these programs is neither reliable nor adequate to service the need under this system. QYS seeks government funding, philanthropic donations, donations on-line, and wishes to register for wills and bequests. We request donations to assist us to continue to manage programs and services for young people in the Townsville region. Current programs include:
  • Reconnect, an outreach service for homeless youth, and those at risk of homelessness, who are aged between 12 and 18 years.
  • Youth Support Coordinator Initiative, supporting young people who are disengaging from their senior phase of learning
  • Young Parents Group and Munchkins Playgroup
  • Get Set for Work, vocational training for young people

How will the funds be used?

Funds will be used to provide programs and outreach services to young people in areas of education, employment, health, early intervention and prevention, legal, homelessness, personal and family problems. Decisions about how funds are executed are made by the Management Committee. A donation of one million dollars would enable QYS to purchase their own building and provide a youth friendly space to run programs on-site. Currently office space is rented off the private sector. A donation of one hundred thousand dollars would wages and management fees of two outreach youth workers for one year. A donation of ten thousand dollars would pay for a large art program for one year. QYS would seek approval from the donor as to how funds will be executed to ensure intention is mutually agreeable.
