They will need to retain Indonesian lawyers to present Titus at the final appeal. The Indonesian lawyers are unable to work on a pro bono basis. Further, there are other disbursements such as the costs of obtaining a DNA test and engaging a lawyer from Nigeria and potentially a lawyer from Pakistan.
In total, approximately $100,000 is required for their final appeal.
The funds will be used to cover Mr Ani's legal defence.
If there are surplus funds raised they will be applied for other pro bono uses, such as QPILCH's disbursement fund for outlays that arise from pro bono referrals. It is hoped that a not for profit organisation to provide legal assistance for others on death row cases in the Asia-Pacific region will eventually be established.
