With One Seed is the first Gold Standard verified carbon forestry program in Timor Leste and has been operating successfully in Baguia, Timor Leste since 2009. 

In 2019, the With One Seed program was established in Tilomar sub-district in Covalima.  To date, more than 74,000 trees have been grown and distributed to 160 small landholders.  

Friends of Suai is committed to financially supporting this fantastic initiative which will eventually generate income for the tree owners for many years to come.   The accreditation process is well underway for Gold Standard certification and as trees grow, the captured carbon will be sold through international carbon markets. Until then, Friends of Suai are funding a small annual payment to each farmer to continue to maintain the trees - equivalent of $1 per tree per year.
