In memory of baby triplets Henry, Jasper and Evan Smith, the Half Marathon Team continues to raise vital funds for the Royal Hospital for Women Foundation to purchase life-saving equipment for premature and critically-ill babies in the Newborn Care Centre at the Royal Hospital for Women, Randwick. In the past five years over 700 runners have participated in the Half Marathon and raised over $520,000.
How will the funds be used?
In 2012 the goal for the Half Marathon Team is to raise $140,000 for two specialised high-frequency ventilators. These state-of-the-art machines use the most advanced technology in neonatal ventilation. They have been described as 'a new era in neonatal respiratory support'.
Key areas if expenditure
The funds raised by the Half Marathon Team will be directly allocated to the Intensive Care Unit in the Newborn Care Centre at the Royal Hospital for Women, Randwick. this Centre cares for over 1,000 premature and critically-ill babies each year.
