Every day, every week, every year Scouts Australia supports young people with different personalities, different backgrounds and with very different lifestyles. Scouting teaches them leadership skills and provides opportunities for them to develop initiative. For many young people their time in Scouts provides them with a strong foundation of life skills, which will guide them throughout their lives.
The Cub Scout program emphasizes exciting and challenging activities based on individual needs. Young boys and girls come together on a weekly basis with the following purpose:
All Cub Scout activities are designed to be appropriate to age, development, social competence, as well as family and community circumstances.
Every 3 years, Scouts Australia (SA Branch) hosts a Cuboree for our Cub Scouts, aged 8 to 11 years of age. A Cuboree is an event similar to a Jamboree, but for the younger 'Cub' members in the movement.
Cuboree 2011 will be an action packed weekend, designed to keep Cub Scouts enthralled and entertained every minute over an action-packed weekend! Cubs will rotate through 9 activity sites over the two-day event, ranging from physical and adventure based activities, cognitive and team building activities, as well as educational activities such as environmental learning, first aid and emergency situations. Of course, for the Cubs, Cuboree is a once in a lifetime activity and ultimately… is all about the FUN!
This year all money raised through our annual appeal will support our Cub Scouts in the 2011 Cuboree. All proceeds will be used to develop new and exciting, adventurous activities for this monumental event.
