Toy and Equipment Appeal

The library is a not-for-profit voluntary community service for families and carers in and around the City of Greater Dandenong. The library allows families to borrow toys on a regular basis, allowing children to explore, create and imagine.

Why we are collecting funds?

Toys are important tools for discovering the world, they are not just for fun. For children, there is no division between work and play and toys help to develop physical, mental and social skills to assist them in reaching their potential as well as encouraging them to stay active.

The demand for interesting, creative and fun toys is a constant, with over 200 families using the library.

The library is not only a place for borrowing toys, it also provides an important support network for new parents and carers - providing them with a place to meet other parents, discuss experiences and draw on the knowledge of other parents.

How will the funds be used?

The Toy Library is managed by volunteers and it relies on donations, grants and volunteers time to keep operating.

As the toys are heavily used, they wear out and need replacing. Catering for young children between 0 to 6 years of age, the library requires quality brand toys, puzzles, games, puppets, dress-ups, CDs and videos.

Childrens with special needs are also very welcome at Springvale with a special category of toys available. These are popular with most children and are available to all.

To help us keep the library as a fun place and way to learn, we are seeking your support in helping us to buy toys.
