St Kilda Mums - Recycling Pre-loved Nursery Gear

We are a voluntary network of mothers who work together to collect and sort donations of baby and preschool children's clothing, toys, books and essential nursery equipment. These items are then re-distributed by Maternal and Child Health Nurses and Family Case Workers from dozens of welfare agencies to families across the city of Melbourne, Australia. We believe that by reusing and recycling much loved babies and children's gear, we not only share the joy of motherhood with each other, but we save the earth's precious resources too.

We will use these funds to ensure that every quality donation we receive can be re-homed by making it safe and complete. For example we can take a donation of a cot, check that it meet safety standards, buy a brand new mattress, and re-home with a beautiful bundle of pre-loved clothing and bedding, a mobile and a big soft teddy. For a mum who has fled domestic violence with the clothes she and her kids are in this support is invaluable. We are the only service of our kind in Victoria.

• Buying new safety harnesses for donated pre-loved prams, highchairs, bouncers, change tables etc so they meet the latest safety recommendations
