Building "Sunrise Children's Village" (SCV), a purpose built, energy efficient, eco-friendly, facility is the next major step towards establishing self-sufficiency and sustainability for the current and future children of Sunrise Orphanage and the surrounding community.
There are 3 components of SCV with a range of facilities:
- A permanent home for the current and future students of Sunrise Orphanage
- Living quarters, kitchen and dining area, playgroung, courtyard and quiet area, and a small farm area made up of a vegetable and herb garden and farm animals for Sunrise consumption.
- A training and development centre for our children, as well as for the children and adults from the surrounding community
- Training in sewing, computing, Thanka painting, singing, dancing and music and English and Nepali literacy, horticulture and sustainable living.
- Facilities for the Sunrise Children as well as local community activities including a hall and music centre, library, rehabilitation centre, office and meeting area.
- Sunrise School for the SO children and children from the local community
- Classrooms and study labs e.g. computing, science
- Office, administration
- Multi-purpose sports facilities e.g. volleyball, badminton, basketball & sports area for table tennis and other games
How will the funds be used?
Funds will be used to build the above facilities and establish the programs to run throughout the various sections of Sunrise Children's Village. Donors can provide general donations or nominate to donate towards a specific area.
