Bangarra is one of Australia's leading performing arts companies, inspired by Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture, widely acclaimed nationally and around the world. We're renowned for our powerful dancing, distinctive theatrical voice and utterly unique soundscapes, music and design.
In 2014, we celebrated our 25th anniversary and achieved the highest box office records since our inception. We tour extensively nationally and internationally and perform up to 100 times a year. Relationships with Indigenous communities are at the heart of Bangarra, sharing stories of Australia's first people to the world and planting the seeds for the next generation of storytellers.
Led by Artistic Director Stephen Page, Bangarra is a not-for-profit organisation whose core funding comes from Federal and NSW governments. 60% of our revenue is generated by performance and workshop income, corporate partnerships and private donations.
Bangarra's yearly program includes a national tour of a brand new work (the most important source of income for the company), a regional tour and international tour of past works as well as new programs (a second season in Sydney and other performance/ showing opportunities each year).
With one of the most diverse audiences in the arts, the majority of Bangarra's audience is aged 18 - 40 and are culture seekers who enjoy entertainment and are comfortable spending money for enjoyment and new experiences.
Physical, inspirational and spirited storytelling is at the core of everything we do.
