Mr Ra has been our driver in Cambodia for the past four years. He has looked after us constantly in every way, whether it be through taking us to some of Phnom Penh's most unknown places, recommending local restaurants to eat in, explaining particular attractions around the country or sharing with us what culture and community in Cambodia is like.

But like many in Cambodia, Mr Ra and his family are doing day to day life pretty tough. High rent costs, ongoing electricity expenses, schooling fees and general everyday budgeting makes for a driver's wage to be quite stressing to manage. 

On top of all these cost of living pressures, his second son, Davit, is suffering from Lupus. Over the last 24 months, this disease has been keeping David in and out of school regularly, it has placed extra burden and stress on the entire family and everyday is a struggle to keep energy and enthusiasm levels high for Davit.

Over the last 12 months we've been supporting Mr Ra and his family to assist him in medically caring for Davit. Our investment has made a huge impact on not just Davit, but the entire family, but there is still a long journey ahead.

A driver's monthly wage can be anywhere between $30 - $100 per month. However, the medical costs for treating Lupus (simply controlling the disease as there is no cure yet) add up to around $40-$60 per week for a check up plus another $20-$40 per week for medication. There simply aren't enough funds available to Mr Ra to support and help Davit. 

Our relationship with Mr Ra is one that we love, value and appreciate. He has done so much for us as a church and for each team every time we have travelled to Cambodia. We can't sit back and watch, it's the favour that we owe him, but one that he hasn't asked for. 

We're raising funds to inject monthly amounts into his bank account so that the burden and stress of looking after and supporting Davit can be reduced. We would love it if you could contribute an ongoing amount each month over the next 12 months so that we can not only support but hopefully improve Davit's condition.
