This is Reg, a lovely and sweet 6 year old Pug who arrived at the Home as a stray. He came to us with a badly fractured humerus bone in his front leg, perhaps from being hit by a car. He was microchipped, but the chip records are still in the breeder's name (who doesn't want Reg as he sold him 6 years ago but can't remember to whom). His owners have not come to collect him. Reg required delicate and complicated surgery to repair his leg, which we arranged at the St George Animal Hospital. It will cost SDCH about $2,000 for his treatment, but we all believe Reg deserves a second chance.
If you want to help Reg by donating to his surgery appeal, be sure to tick the 'Special Message" box on the page where you enter your contact details and mention that your donation is specifically for Reg's Appeal.
We will be updating you on Reg's progress as his treatment continues. Also, if you know of anyone looking to adopt a Pug with a slightly stiff leg who loves cuddles please contact us at the Home on 9587 9611 or email sdch@sydneydogsandcatshome.org He won't be available for a little while as he recovers from his surgery but ultimately he will be looking for a family that will care for him better than his last one did.

Off to a Shaky Start
When Smokey Joe arrived at the Sydney Dogs and Cats Home she looked like she wouldn't make it . A bag of bones covered in some sort of tar substance with half her fur missing, she was too weak to even walk .
That should have been enough to put her off people but her nature remains overwhelmingly affectionate. Smokey Joe has spent the last 5 weeks recovering with Kerry(staff member) and is now looking for a special home. She is around 4 months old and is used to other cats and dogs. She is a little stunted and still has a slightly wobbly gait due to early malnutrition .
Please help us continue to help more lost and abandoned pets, like Smokey Joe, by making a tax deductible donation. All donations, big and small, are greatly appreciated.
Update on Smokey Joe: Smokey Joe has now been adopted

Update on Benny
A heartfelt thanks from SDCH and Benny to all our supporters who made his operation possible.
Benny underwent successful surgery on the 19.11.10 at the University of Sydney, and he is expected to make a full recovery.
6.12.10 - Benny has now been adopted.
Benny is a young dog with a big heart-literally its too big. He has a congenital heart defect which will kill him within the next 12 months if left untreated but which could be fixed by specialist surgery. This would give him the chance for a normal life. As a stray dog with no loving owner, his chance of getting this surgery totally depends on the kindness and generosity of strangers. We need to raise funds to provide for his surgery, recuperation and care until a loving home can be found. Benny is just one of the many animals we help every year.
Thank you so much for helping Benny and supporting the work we do here at Sydney Dogs and Cats Home. Without your support it just wouldn't be possible.
