"Thank you for never giving up on me"
Taldumande exists to save vulnerable young people from the downward spiral that threatens their future. With proven support strategies, we give hope and a new start in life to young people at risk. People like Gus*, 21 years old, diagnosed with Asperger's Syndrome as a child, and as a teenager, Schizophrenia and Substance Use Disorder.
His emotional and mental pain led him to self-harm, drug abuse, violent behaviour, an endless round of hospitals and crisis refuges, and finally Taldumande.
Taldumande developed a plan that addressed his various challenges - psychological, intellectual, social, financial and practical living skills. Placed in a Taldumande single-bedroom transitional unit for young people with complex mental issues, Gus received intensive daily support to help him gain independence, self-esteem and the ability to take responsibility for his own care. He remained in Taldumande’s care for 18 months and with our help he was then able to transition into Priority Housing, a more permanent solution.
While once his case seemed hopeless, Gus is now starting to take charge of his life. Taldumande never abandons hope, but without the support of our generous patrons and donors, we could not have achieved this.
Please, if you can, help us give others like Gus a new start in life. Donate online before 30 June 2018.
