Who is EARS?

EARS Incorporated is an Australian-based Christian organisation established to support hearing clinics and training centres in developing countries, with approved projects co-ordinated by Donna Carkeet in the Dominican Republic (Central America) and Peter & Rebecca Bartlett in Malawi (Africa).

Why donate?

Most developing countries do not have any permanent audiology services or audiology training centres. Those with serious hearing loss are disadvantaged and often impoverished. Donna Carkeet's successful five year EARS Inc. project in the Dominican Republic has ensured this country of 9 million people now has locally trained health staff to provide a full range of hearing services, where there was none before. Peter and Rebecca Bartlett are beginning a new project in the African nation of Malawi which has a population of over 14 million but no permanent audiology service.

Where will your money go?

Funds are required to provide living expenses for the Australian audiologists who are pioneering this sustainable development work and also to purchase equipment to develop services.

• $25 can purchase a pair of ear moulds for hearing aids, or a solar-powered hearing aid battery recharger
• $50 can produce comprehensive audiology course training resources
• $100 can purchase a basic digital Behind The Ear hearing aid
• $500 provides an annual student half-scholarship
