About this cause

Merri O'Donaghue was a Family Support Worker with The Family Centre for over 8 years. After a courageous battle with cancer, Merri died in March 2010.

Merri was much loved by the many families she worked with and her friends and colleagues in the Tweed community. She was passionate and determined about empowering vulnerable and disadvantaged families and particularly mothers in the families she worked with.

This fund is created in her memory so her passion and determination is not forgotten and we can help to create educational opportunities for mothers from disadvantaged families.

The fund will provide grants to eligible mothers for costs associated with undertaking secondary, tertiary or other educational opportunities. Family Centre staff will provide mentoring support to the grant recipients for up to12 months.
