The positive outcomes of the "Men's Shed" project are twofold. Coming together as a group and sharing and learning new skills enhance the sense of belonging of the participants and strengthen associations with community education. In the long term, the project is fostering resilience factors within our community.
" The health status of people is dependent on the number of resilience factors in the community. Resiliency derives from the interaction between the individual and the environment. When present, resilience factors decrease the effect of negative health and social outcomes. Examples of resilience factors include: having a sense of belonging/connectedness to an educational setting: having someone you believe in: having a positive relationship with an adult outside the family and/or a special gift of talent".
