June O'Connor Centre (JOC) is a non government organisation established to support adults recovering from a mental illness, through the provision of informal and structured socially based day programs. JOC is currently funded entirely by the Mental Health Commission and by the generosity of grants from Lotterywest. Unfortunately, programs that we offer are limited by the funding we receive.
Around 20% of adults in our community suffer from a form of mental disorder at some point in their lives. Mental Illness affects everybody in some way.
JOC has over 2700 members who attend our five centres, we are finding it increasingly difficult to satisfy the growing demand for our services due to funding constraints.
Donations will be used to support or expand existing programs, and develop new initiatives for our members. All programs delivered by JOC aim to improve the mental health, social wellbeing and overall quality of life of adults living with a diagnosed mental illness.
Your donation will help fund JOC activities that provide social interaction, recreation, carer support, psychosocial support, living and work skills and respite for people affected by mental illness.
Donations will also support JOC programs in exercise, music, health, the arts and community integration; all of which are recognised contributors to the recovery of mental health.
